Please Note: In order to complete Volunteer Fire, Firefighter 1, Firefighter 1 Transition, or Firefighter 2 Transition, you must be associated with a fire department.

Funding Determination Form
The Funding Determination form must be completed and submitted at least one week prior to the class start date. This document is required for all students, even if you are self-pay. If you are being funded by an agency, employer, or other entity, the middle section must be completed by the payor.

The Mid-East CTC, Adult Education is one of the largest providers of fire service training in the region. Each year, hundreds of people receive initial and refresher training from our highly qualified instructors. Course Descriptions

Firefighter 1  (160 Hours)
Must possess NIMS 100 and 700 & Courage to be safe Certificates, maintain a 75% class average on all test/practicals/quizzes, meet all State of Ohio objectives to successfully complete the course and pass the State of Ohio certification test with a minimum score of 70%. Student must submit their high school transcript or GED.

Firefighter 1 Transition  Course (124 Hours) 

Follows a state certified firefighter at the Volunteer Firefighter certification level to transition to a Firefighter I.  The course meets the National Fire Protection Association 1001 Standard for Firefighter I certification.  

Pre-requisite: current State of Ohio Volunteer Firefighter certification and high school graduate or equivalent. Students must submit their high school transcript or GED.
Must possess NIMS 100 and 700 & Courage to be Safe Certificates, maintain a 75% class average on all test/practicals/quizzes, meet all State of Ohio objectives to successfully complete the course and pass the State of Ohio certification test with a minimum score of 70%

Firefighter Level II Transition Course (84 Hours)
Allows a state certified firefighter at the State of Ohio Firefighter Level I certification to transition to a Level II Firefighter.  The course meets the National Fire Protection Association 1001 Standard for Firefighter II certification. Pre-requisite: current State of Ohio Firefighter Level I certification and high school graduate or equivalent. Students must submit their high school transcript or GED.

Must possess NIMS 100 and 700 & Courage to be Safe Certificates, maintain a 75% class average on all test/practicals/quizzes, meet all State of Ohio objectives to successfully complete the course and pass the State of Ohio certification test with a minimum score of 70%.

Volunteer Firefighter Course (36 hours)
The State of Ohio basic minimum requirement for a volunteer firefighter. Students obtain entry level knowledge of the fire service in the areas of ladders, ventilation, personal protective equipment, hoses and water movement. Must possess NIMS 100 and 700 & Courage to be Safe Certificates, maintain a 75% class average on all test/practicals/quizzes, meet all State of Ohio objectives to successfully complete the course and pass the State of Ohio certification test with a minimum score of 70%. Students must submit their high school transcript or GED.

**Any student enrolling in Volunteer Fire, Fire I, or Fire II must submit their high school transcript OR GED. This document can be uploaded in your Student Portal under Documents.**
