Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
Emergency Medical Technician training is designed for people interested in the care and transportation of patients in emergency vehicles. The course contains class work and clinical experience. Learn how to operate an ambulance, transport and care for patients and how to determine the nature and extent of illness or injury.

• Must be at least 17 years of age
• Must be physically capable to perform tasks
• Must be of good moral character
- REQUIRED: Student must complete a BCI background check ($25). If the student has not resided in Ohio for the last five (5) years then an FBI background check will also be required ($30), in addition to the BCI (total of $55). Background checks can be completed at Mid-East CTC Adult Education office. Call 740-455-3111 to schedule.
- REQUIRED: Student is required to complete the WorkKeys Workplace Documents pre-assessment. Call 740-455-3111 to schedule with our Testing Center. You may submit scores if you received a four (4) or higher, and it was taken within the past 2 years.

Funding Determination Form
The Funding Determination form must be completed and submitted at least one week prior to the class start date. This document is required for all students, even if you are self-pay. If you are being funded by an agency, employer, or other entity, the middle section must be completed by the payor.
Students may take EMT-Advanced after successful licensure as an EMT.

Be Prepared - Required Training Before Class
To best utilize your time in the EMT program, we are requiring students to submit certificates for the following trainings:
- BLS
- NIMS IS-100C and IS-700B
- Rescue Task Force
- Dementia Training for Ohio EMS
You can download the EMT Website Sheet for the websites. Do not set up the first two listed (you will do those in class).
All certificates can be uploaded in your Student Portal once you have registered for the class.
