Our Admissions/Student Services Office is here to help you find the program that is right for you, help you with all needs assessments and pretesting, and schedule appointments for those who need financial aid.  We are here to help you achieve your goals!

All programs have limited enrollment. Tuition prices are subject to change pending Board of Education approval. The school reserves the right to cancel a class due to insufficient enrollment, up to the day before a class is to begin. If this happens, any paid tuition will be returned in full. Students are urged to register early to ensure a place in the class.

Adult Education programs follow an “open admissions” policy for most programs (see information below).  This allows any person with a high school diploma or High School Equivalency, upon successful completion of pre-entrance testing/interviews (where required), to enroll in adult education programs.  Once students complete required testing and have made arrangements for tuition and fees, students will be admitted on a first-come, first serve basis. 

Admission Policy for all programs that are Title IV (full-time) programs:

  1. Students must be at least 17 years of age and have obtained a high school diploma or High School Equivalency.  

  2. Go to https://mec.axstudent.com/#/categories and fill out the required registration form completely.  All applicants need to have a working email and phone number in order for us to contact you regarding any registrations.

  3. Upload High School Transcript or High School Equivalency proof.  This needs to be uploaded with your application.  See notes below regarding proof of High School completion.  Exception: Diploma RN Program students must upload their LPN transcript and an active Ohio Licensed Practical Nurse License verification. However, if a Diploma RN student is wanting to utilize federal financial aid a high school transcript is required. 

  4. Take care of financial obligations:

    • If applying for Federal Financial Aid (FAFSA) at studentaid.gov. School code 012967.   Students who do not qualify for Title IV Funding (Pell or Student Loans) must complete financial arrangements as a self-pay student.
    • If self-pay, you must notify the school, fill out a Funding Determination-Waiver and set up payment arrangements or pay institutional charges PRIOR to the first day of class.
    • If agency funded (VA or Ohio Means Jobs, etc.), you must have all documentation completed and to the financial aid office prior to the first day of class.

  5. Complete program specific PRE-ADMISSION requirements. See below.

Mid-East does not offer an "ability to benefit" option.

PROOF OF HIGH SCHOOL COMPLETION:

  1. We accept High School transcripts with graduation dates (Special notice for applicants who are graduating high school in the same year they are applying for entry into one of our programs....YOU MUST obtain a High School Transcript upon graduation that has your graduation date on it.  Financial Aid cannot be applied to your accounts without this. Remember that most High School offices close around mid-June and do not reopen until August.)

  2. High School Equivalency: a copy of certificate or proof of completion (with grades if at all possible)

  3. Home School:  A copy of a home school certificate and any supporting credential with appropriate seal/signatures.  Home schools must be recognized as such in the state where they were issued.

If there are any concerns about the validity of the high schools’ credentials, the institution will first check the “Unacceptable Proof of Graduation” list.  If the high school is on that list it will be judged as unacceptable.  If it is not on that list but the institution still questions the validity of the high school credential, we will ask for a transcript from the high school showing classes completed and passed.  If we are still not satisfied as to the validity of the credential, we may contact the states’ Department of Education in which the school is located to ascertain if the high school is approved by the state.  If it cannot be confirmed, the transcript will not be accepted.  We will also not accept any transcript that has been altered in any way.

If the student graduated from a high school out of the country, we will determine whether the education is the equivalent of a high school education in the United States.

PRE-ADMISSION ASSESSMENTS/REQUIREMENTS:

Prior to being accepted into a Title IV eligible (full-time) program at Mid-East CTC Adult Education, prospective students will need to take some type of assessment and in some cases provide documentation.  Listed below are the necessary requirements.

  • Electrical Technologies and Welding:  Applicants must take the Workplace Documents WorkKeys assessment prior to entry into the program.  Students should obtain a score of 3 to be successful in the program
  • Information Technology Services:  Applicants must take the Workplace Documents WorkKeys assessment prior to entry into the program.  Students should obtain a score of 3 to be successful in the program.
  • Heavy Equipment Operations: Applicants must take the Workplace Documents Workkeys assessment prior to entry into the program and obtain a score of 3 to be successful into the program.  Because of the CDL training in this program, students must submit a valid driver’s license and submit an official Driver’s Abstract from the Bureau of Motor Vehicles. Students will also be required to pass a drug screen.
  • Power Line Technologies: Applicants must pass a physical assessment.  Students are scored on this assessment and are accepted into the program until the class is full.  Those accepted students must take the Workplace Documents WorkKeys assessment prior to entry into the program and obtain a score of 3 to be successful into the program. Because of the CDL training in this program, students must submit a valid driver’s license and submit an official Driver’s Abstract from the Bureau of Motor Vehicles. Students will also be required to pass a drug screen.
  • Paramedic: Applicants are required to take pre-entrance assessments and to complete an interview with the Public Safety Coordinator and/or the Paramedic Instructor. WorkKeys assessments required are Workplace Documents, Applied Math, and Graphic Literacy. Prospective students must obtain a minimum score of 4 on each WorkKeys section. Students meeting these scores are selected for the interview process. Assessment scores are combined with the interview score. Applicants with the highest scores will be accepted into the program until program capacity has been reached.
  • Health Care Transition: Applicants must take the Workplace Documents and Applied Math WorkKeys assessments.  Applicants with the highest scores will be accepted into the program until program capacity has been reached. Final letters will be mailed out regarding acceptance status after interviews are conducted.
  • Practical Nursing: Applicants will be required to take the ATI TEAS assessment to determine eligibility for the program.  Your score must be basic level, (Baseline percentage required may vary depending on other applicants scores.)  Acceptance is based on the final scores of the ATI TEAS assessment and applicants will be accepted by highest scores first.  Applicants with the highest scores will be accepted into the program until program capacity has been reached. Final letters will be mailed out regarding acceptance status.  
  • Diploma RN: Applicants will be required to take the ATI TEAS assessment to determine eligibility for the program.  Your score must be proficient level, (Baseline percentage required may vary depending on other applicants scores.)  Acceptance is based on the final scores of the ATI TEAS assessment and applicants will be accepted by highest scores first.  Applicants with the highest scores will be accepted into the program until program capacity has been reached. Final letters will be mailed out regarding acceptance status.
